the graduate

Today was Sarah's graduation at the Barbican. Now she is officially PGDip, a registered paediatric nurse. We clapped hundreds of young women and a handful of young men as they made their way across the stage to shake hands and collect their scrolls. I couldn't help but think though, of the hard work that all these new nurses will be doing. I hope they get treated well, by their managers and the government. Rant over, it was a lovely day and we are very proud of Sarah, who originally went to university to study music. In one of life's strange coincidences, the trumpet-player at the ceremony recognised her - he had taught her music theory at university!

By the way, the gong bath was wonderful! Three large gongs, metal Tibetan singing bowls and a set of large quartz bowls combined to make some amazing and powerful music, felt, as Wordsworth might have said if he had been there ".. in the blood, and felt along the heart; And passing even into my purer mind". Highly recommended :-)

Soon it will be time to catch a train home to snowy Scotland...
