Johnston Terrace is closed for a while to allow these guys to identify and remove any loose pieces of the rock safely.  Mostly they do this with big hammers, although I am pretty sure I have also heard a small detonation (presumably an explosive charge to blow off a larger risky looking bit).

Hopefully this proactive work will ensure that Johnston Terrace is subjected to fewer unexpected rockfalls.

I wonder if the Council have ever thought of allowing free parking there, for people who like a game of chance...
