The 4 Seasons

One of the paintings by Pyke Koch, whose paintings are classified as Magic Realism and the Centraal Museum of Utrecht has them exibited at the moment.

He's lived a long life (90 yrs) and established himself as a painter in the interbellum of the 20th century. A time of political controversies and as he then was impressed by Mussolini and other rightwingers, his political views and opinions of the 30-ies up till early 40-ies marked him for decades as a fascist and his works were not exhibited.
Since our times show rise in antidemocratic thoughts and policies and in rightwing populism, the Utrecht museum thinks it's time to exhibit Pyke's works and inform us from his letters and painted metafors of his struggle in choosing sides; thus to awaken us all of our alarming era ~ I do like the museum takes it educational task serious in this way too.
