Last of the summer roses

...One summer many years ago my Aunt Mary was staying with me. She  decided to prune the rose bush in the front garden. Later that year, as I was leaving my house on a cold Boxing Day to see  the Berkshire branch of the family with whom she was staying, I noticed that there was still one solitary rose left. I cut it and gave it to Aunt Mary for Christmas. At the time, I thought it unusual to have a summer rose still blooming in December but today, in the fourth week in January, there are still ten roses (in Extra photos) in bloom.
