Wide Wednesday History

To quote the web "there are many Greek cafés in New South Wales, forming an important heritage genre. But no other surviving Greek café in the state has comparable stylishness, integrity and wealth of aesthetic and industrial heritage" as The Paragon in Katoomba.

It was started in 1916 by a Greek immigrant, Zach Simos, and after he died his wife managed it until 1987.

It is one of only about 100 items listed on the NSW Heritage Register, along with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

It is particularly famous for its chocolates :-)

Thanks Steveng and BobsBlips for hosting this challenge.
