Money tree

I remember when I was little dad using the phrase ‘money doesn’t go on trees you know’.
I also remember his sister having this huge plant which she called a money tree. As a child I was fascinated by the name, was dad kidding me all along? Did some money actually grow on trees? How could it be? All I actually ever saw were those big waxy green leaves, but part of me always wondered if it was a secret the grown ups kept & I’d find out for sure when I was older.

The plants still make me smile when I see any, and reminds me of times when life was full of innocence and so much wonder.
