Smiley Faces in the Schoolroom

We strolled along the narrow concrete road to the tiny island village where the pier is, passing along the way many little thatched dwellings, smiley, happy people, buffalo, egrets, and rubber trees that were being tapped for their sap.
These children were eating their lunches, but ran to the window of the schoolroom when they spotted us "farangs" going past. They all wanted to say "hello" and ask our names and where we came from.
My extra is the collection centre where the locals take their sheets of rubber to be weighed, and then exported for processing. The main industries here are rubber, agriculture, and fishing, with tourism way down the list.
