The Beech tree

Fagus sylvatica our common beech tree is often the first to bud in the spring
and usually one of the last to shed it's leaves in the autumn.
It can grow to a height of 27m and spread to 18m.
A beautiful place to sit and picnic in the summer using it's dense canopy to hide from the sun, and in the autumn to marvel at the wonderous colours as they prepare to fall and decay to provide nutriants for future growth.
