Subscription

My dad renewed his subscription to The Railway Magazine 3 weeks before he died, for....3 years.

It was a parting gift to make sure this magazine cluttered up our home, like it had his.

When we sold mum and dads house he had every copy from 1952 to 2000, bar July 1977. Not sure what happened then but must have been significant.

He was convinced they would be worth a pretty penny. However, loads of old train spotters were shuffling off into the sidings for one last time and had similar collections. Oversupply.

In the end I gave them to the Vintage Carriages Trust at Ingrow for their library, and free entry to have a look round.

He died in 2000, and 3 years took me to late 2003, and I've kept subscribing ever since.
