An Avid Lensman

Ferris Wheel turns into Catherine's wheel!

Went back to the Fair, helping a friend take basic pix with his quite new Canon Bridge camera, as it was a good opportunity and for the very causal amateur snapper he is, as it's not a subject he'd tackle, even if he knew how. The 'low light' mode got the exposure he wanted but autofocussing often failed, especially on moving lights and as he couldn't override that, he was a bit disappointed.

Perhaps, because I'd got some quite attractive 'studies in zoom' - I had even more and a stronger choice of images than yesterday, but in the end went for this one as it's perhaps a bit neater than some of the longer exposures and wider-ranging zooms. All were hand-held, the VR function of Nikkor G 24-120mm helping with this aspect.
The EXIF data only registers one focal length, I presume it's the one where one zooms from, not to.

Here, the Ferris Wheel is slowly rotating too, giving that Catherine wheel firework effect. I also tried this on the Classic gold-coloured big Merry Go Round, and these looked pretty incredible too, a difficult choice. The only other lens I took along was the 8mm circular fisheye, which was most effective when looking straight up into the night sky, with all the helter-skelters, Ferris Wheel and everything else in a continuous ring of colour around the perimeter of the circular frame (edge).
