Dachau

Went over to Gallery Oldham today with Quotidian to have a look at the Arthur Dooley exhibition. Its a very funky modern building with a real mix of exhibitions on, even better, sign a disclaimer saying you wont use photographs for commercial gain and you are free to click away.

I had seen pictures of this sculpture "Dachau' but to see it face to face was breathtaking. Its a really powerful work and the gallery had displayed and lit it brilliantly. Dooley was a Liverpool artist who did quite a lot of religious works and often described the resurrection as 'representing escape from oppression' and hoped this piece would inspire solidarity and political action amongst the working class.

Fascinating bloke and cracking exhibition.
