Christmas Eve

One of those photos that are difficult to place. So a bit of guessing.

Being as traditional as expats were, I take this to be Gammon on Christmas Eve served for some friends in a buffet style, probably on laps on the verandah. On the small dish what could be chunks of pineapple and on the middle plate by my mother's hand, knobs of butter for rolls.

55 years later, the carving knife is still at work from time to time.

I wasn't at the event but would have already celebrated my first Christmas without my parents, in faraway Germany.
