Beneath Biscay

Last day in A Coruña today. Went our for breakfast (declining the €19 per head hotel breakfast) then back to the hotel to check out. After that walked to meet up with daughter C and go for a walk back down to the harbour, pictured.

The white facades to the buildings, the galerias, are very typical of A Coruña. They are like balconies but are completely enclosed, probably due to the frequently inclement weather in this part of the world. It does give many of the buildings here a very attractive appearance. Nowaday, newer buildings still incorporate what appear from the outside to be galleries but inside they are often part of the main room behind, thanks to the wonder of double glazing no doubt.

After the walk, back to C's place for something to eat, then load the car with some of her bits and pieces that she no longer needs there and wanted brought home, then the roughly 3 hour drive back to Gijón.

A lovely sunny day today both for our walk in A Coruña and for the drive home.
