Stray dog

Half-starved with a wobbly back end and very sore feet, this hunting type dog spent last night in the woods next to our Mas.

Roaming dogs are very common around here at all times of year and particularly during the hunting season, and it's probably the same in all parts of Spain. We never usually feed them, even though they're almost always skin and bone, but this one looked so bad though that we gave him a bowl of dog food and some water, and this morning he's had another helping... but that's all we can do.

Is feeding him just prolonging his agony though, or maybe it will keep him going just long enough to... well, for what? It would be nice to think that someone will take him in and de-worm, de-flea and de-tick him but it's unlikely, and the truth is that we wouldn't be doing him any favours if we gained his trust but didn't take him on permanently. But we do not want another one of our own.
