Matron`s College.

Took a stroll into the Close for the Cathedral. This building dates back to 1682, the College of Matrons. The Royal Coat of Arms is for the Stuarts. The rules stipulated that only widows of Clergymen could live there. Now the rules state that preference is given to single wives and daughters , over the age of 50, whose husbands or fathers were clergymen.
