Pennan

Yesterday's high winds had thrown stones onto the promenade, and the sea surge was still strong today, even though the wind had dropped. I had fun taking photos of the waves splashing against the shore.

Pennan, of course, is famous for being a film location in the 1983 film 'Local Hero'. The iconic red telephone box that featured in the film was actually a prop, but the public demand for a real box worked its magic and BT installed a properly functioning one in the village opposite Pennan Inn (extra). There are still a number of functioning red boxes around the coast here; we found another one in Crovie.
