Ale & Pie BREAKFAST

A window at the Blackbird pub on Earls Court Road around the corner from our hotel, reflecting the sunset at ca. 5 pm this afternoon (vivid against the black background); afterwards I realized there are two other windows devoted to LUNCH and DINNER, but not being directly opposite the intersection they wouldn't have been as well suited. A nice conclusion to a very good museum day; we visited Charles I: King and Collector, a truly magisterial  exhibition. The star artist of the show was naturally Anthony van Dyck, and the star painting (for me) his triple portrait of Charles I (which was sent to Rome for Bernini to sculpt a portrait). Our old friend Liz joined us; Marylee has known her since her Oxford sojourn at the end of the 1960's, and she has visited us most winters in Paris
