Saturday City

Ourselves and the tuba hit the road early for Cork this morning, J had orchestra rehearsal, big gig in the National Concert Hall in Dublin next weekend, no less. After dropping him, my eagle-eyed companion spotted Autumn and some other wet people by the riverside, so a chat was had with herself and her man Theo, he's just back from white water kayaking in Uganda. She had just run 6k, was heading into the river for some long distance kayaking and they were going swimming later, we sensibly did none of this. After our goodbyes we went for coffee in one of Aisling's haunts (Coffee Roasters) and very fine coffee it was. Though their loo is tiny and it is horrendously easy to set off the very loud air hand dryer with your backside as you sidle in. I nearly gave myself a heart attack by doing this and then had a fit of the giggles, though as you can imagine, I was alone, so all good.
After a mooch and some shopping, we picked up the lad and then back to Clon for lunch and to watch Ireland squeak past France in the rugby in the last seconds. My son Sean was in Paris for a birthday party, but watching the match in a bar, the only Irishman, so he may have been lynched. Out later to see The Post. Phew, that was a long one!
