Pompette...

...tipsy

Had only one class, and in the afternoon as well, so had a lazy morning recovering from the late night Skype session with Andy. Was really nice to just be lazy for once, and may have watched to entire 2 hours of Strictly Come Dancing on iPlayer! I know, I am awesome. Still really bummed about the broken lens, but I have a plan to take it home and (hopefully) get it fixed sometime in the next month. Here's to hoping!

The class I had today were cinqième INTER, the smallest class in the international section with only five students. They all have a brilliant level of English and today we were studying Gothic Horror, in particular The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The aim of the class was to cement the ideas of the gothic (themes, setting, characters, mood etc.), so of course the best way to do that was to show the students a clip from Sleepy Hollow! Forgotten how creepy that film was! The students had to describe the scene they saw in writing, rather than just watching it - so learnt some interesting vocab there!
Words I have learnt today:-
- Couper les paroles - to cut someone off
- Combattre / lutter - to struggle
- Chevalier - horseman
- Chouette - owl
- Se retourner - to turn around
- Pas - footsteps
- Il y a un prix étudiant ? - Is there a student discount?
- Cachets - pill lines
- Pilule - pill
- Cascade - waterfall
- Fontaine - fountain
- Echappatoire - loophole
- T'est où là? - Where are you?
- Winnie L'ourson - Winnie the Pooh (saw it on a child's bag on the tram!)

Ended my day with a lovely evening out at Cargo, a club in Caen...another ERASMUS evening! Was lovely to see everyone, especially Laura, Baptiste, Thomas, Claire, Becky and Kendra, was absolutely awesome to finally have a dance as well! It seems that French people don't particularly tend to dance, so it was great to actually go and have a good boogie (excuse the old word!). There was also another live band, who sounded a lot like Friendly Fires. Nothing like a good bit of live music, I really am spoilt here!

Full day at school tomorrow, followed by a film night at Laura's...thank goodness for a night in!
