Moving fast

I took this picture of Michala a four-year lovely child. However I don't understand that my IXUS choose to do it 1/8 sec. !#"?&% in the automatic setting. Someone enlighten me please.

I like it very much though so here it is. It shows very well that she can't sit or stand still for very long.
