Prickly Pear

There's nothing tiny about this enormous cactus (Opuntia), but I thought its spines might count as (relatively) tiny to fit this week's Tiny Tuesday challenge, with the theme 'spiky'. Thanks to mindful_life for hosting this week's challenge.

I warmed to the interesting shape of the platyclade (or cladode) on the left of my blip that looks as if it has a nose! Perhaps this is a Prickly Bear! (I'm not keen on potted, indoor cacti, but I do enjoy seeing them growing outdoors.)

Today I read that John Mahoney, the actor who played Marty Crane in the long-running US sitcom Frasier, has died, aged 77. We raise a toast to him in the character's favourite refridgerated drink: a can of beer! (In our case Coral!)
