A metre of Tapas

Another beautiful sunny morning.
We drove to Puerto de Soller via Palma and then through the tunnel under the mountains. Thus avoiding lots more hairpin bends!

On the North West of the Island, the small port set in a horse shoe bay, has an old time charm. It is surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains, which rise very steeply behind.
There is an old fashioned tram which takes you along the front and then inland to the town of Soller.
Palm trees line the pavement, and it reminds me of the South of France.

I had read about a restaurant which served tapas on a metre lenghth wooden board. So we decided to have lunch there.

We could see the sky getting blacker, the waiters at the restaurants along the front were hastily gathering in chair cushions and table clothes, when the thunder and lightening started, and the rain came down in buckets! The harbour, and boats disappeared from view, and we couldn't see anything!
Fortunately we took shelter in a doorway near to the restaurant, and after about 15mins the rain eased a bit and we made a dash for it!

A charming young girl showed to a table by the window, and the storm was begining to die down.
We ordered the metre of tapas, not quite knowing what we would get, but what a wonderful surprise. There was one each of everything.
The little black pots contained a delicious hot chilli con carne, Smoked salmon on a cocktail stick, veal escalope,(not sure what the little round balls were) on a stick, chilled cucumber soup, prawns wrapped in filo pastry, some sort of fish, spanish omelette, and in the middle a tuna salad to share. All tasted delicious. So many wonderful flavours and textures.
We thought that the 18.50 euros was per person, but it was for all the tapas.
Very good value, and a nice glass of wine . (Beautiful tall glasses)
One of the best meals we had in Mallorca.

By the time we had finished the sun was out again, and all the rain water had disappeared from the pavement , which earlier had looked like a river!
Another walk round the harbour, and then back to the car.

This is the best of the photos I took. Not very good as I found it difficult to get the angle right, and get the whole metre in the photopraph.
