The médiathèque roof, through Carole

This is the amazing, shifting roof on the Carré d'art (1986), the Norman Foster médiathèque in Nîmes, built to complement the first-century BCE Maison Carrée . It's foot-wide slats move and tilt with the sun, providing a perfect level of shade to the happy punters on the roof-terrace café.
They worked splendidly, allowing us to enjoy the company, the food, the view, and the splendid blue sky.
Oh, and the pastis.
