Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Our parish glebe with snowdrops

A glebe is a piece of land serving as part of a clergyman's benefice and providing income. The term comes from the  Latin gleba, glaeba  meaning clod, land or soil.

This is a picturesque corner of the Foveran Parish Church glebe. I imagine that the drifts of snowdrops will have been there for a century or more.

The "extra", a plate of bananas, has no significance other than that I have just been in touch with the Captain of a banana boat who I first met in the Tunisian desert a decade ago!
