Funeral Places

Some of the Funeral Places I have been to have been very beautiful.  Some of them can only be described as functional.  The one i went to today is more on the functional side inside, but outside, on a day like today, it is rather green and open and attractive.  It's on the side of a hill in the middle of the Black Country and the other side of the Hill has mostly disappeared in the querying of the stone known as Rowley Rag.

I was helping out at the funeral of the mother of one of my very dear Slimming World Friends.  The chapel was full of people Marian had given joy to over her long life.  There were lots of guiding friends there so at the end of the service we sang Taps.  Those of you who were guides will know what that is.  It was very moving.

I decided to take this shot as I was going back to the car.  This crematorium is beyond the rather imposing War Memorial and this was taken at the point where a big funeral party was coming out having celebrated the passing of a 91 year old who had lived life to the full, and a very big funeral party was going in for the funeral of a 55 year old man who had so much more to do with his life...  Life and Death.  A Mystery.

So it's been a busy day, but a good one.  Even Mom managed to wish us a good holiday when we set off tomorrow.

For those of you who know about these things, I have 2 pairs of shorts in my case, some clothes in Rob's case (More than he thinks!), some spares in my rucksack and a few more than the three pairs of knickers recommended by Coffee Potter...  Oh, and one or two other things to cater for all eventualities...

Hoping that our luggage gets there at the same time as us...
