Modal Monday

Leigh and I went to see 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It was excellent and unusual. If a good film wasn't enough on its own, we were ecstatic that films at the Vue cinema only cost £3.99 on a Monday. Further savings can be had by smuggling in sweet treats from Tesco nearby. We will be returning, especially as the seats are comfortable and fully reclinable (as pictured).

We grabbed food beforehand at a nearby pub where Leigh talked to the bemused barman about modal verbs. Classic behaviour of a modern languages teacher allowed on a night out. The barman was a student of ophthalmic dispensing at Anglia Ruskin University, and we thought his grasp of foreign languages was poor. He said he was learning Portuguese from a friend but failed to recognise 'tudo bem', which is the first phrase anyone learns in Portuguese (meaning how are you?). He'd do better sticking to the ophthalmic dispensing and bartending.
