A mist-erious view!

We seem to be experiencing some typically British summer weather here in NZ at the moment - misty and wet. Happily however that didn't stop us from enjoying a few hours at "Wai-O-Tapu" Thermal Wonderland" on our way from Rotorua to Tongariro. It was very reminiscent of Yellowstone, which was on the USA Photo Tour I went on (John Gravett 's trip) last August, although the weather was a tad different!

The extra shows one of the bubbling mud pools which were rather fun to watch.

We're going to have to change our plans for tomorrow. We've come to spend 2 nights at Tongariro with the intention of going on the Tongariro Crossing hike tomorrow. However the weather is so awful that the shuttle service (which you need to get to the start and back from the finish) has been cancelled: they say that you wouldn't be able to see anything from the higher points of the hike as the fierce wind will be blowing the rain in your face! Happily there are some other walks which we should be able to do.
