Just hanging around

This squirrel attached itself to the tree and spent quite a long time keeping perfectly still, contemplating a sunny Sunday morning.
I didn't understand the mechanics of it, until recently a keeper at The British Wildlife Centre explained that squirrels can rotate their back feet 180 degrees, enabling them to hang upside down quite comfortably.
So far this winter the snow has passed us by, but if there was a melted puddle of it underneath the tree, I'd have though this little fellow had positioned himself perfectly to compete in a record attempt for the very highest of high dives.
