Children's Carnival in 't Krabbegat

There's one day every year when young and old, from baby's in prams to grandparents gather together on the main square in our town Bergen op Zoom in The Netherlands. Everybody joins in to see the Carnival Prince, the jester, police man and the head farmer play out a story for the young children on Carnival Monday. Usually the church tower, called the Peperbus (the pepper pot), is part of the story, he's wearing his Carnival clothes and he can talk, especially at the Children's Carnival. He was looking rather sad this afternoon before it all began, but I'm guessing he'll be smiling now. Everybody is dressed up, or maybe I should say dressed down, we're all farmers or fishers, wearing blue tunics and lots of net curtains, but a funny hat is highly appreciated. I don't go out much, it wasn't possible last year, when I was not very mobile, but today I did join the happy crowd for a while.
For the community challenge this week: this is the place where most of Bergen op Zoom's inhabitants have fun during Carnival. See the extras for more impressions.

Thanks very much for your kind comments, stars and even a fave for yesterday's nostalgic Blip and the AT results !
