Fritillaria

When I was at the garden centre last week I came away with a plant. Now there's a surprise! I rather liked this little bonnety sort of flower which was easily recognisable as a form of fritillaria.

We already have the meleagris in the garden and it has naturalised quite nicely, so will this fritillaria michailovskyi, it seems. The surprising this about this plant is that it is resistant to being eaten by deer and rodents.

I do hope it isn't eaten by rabbits, either, as it would look good at the lodge where naughty Peter Lagomorph likes digging up and eating my  bulbs.
