surplus colour on a monochrome day

Last morning in London. We planned to leave relatively early and visit the Science Museum before catching the train North. We did manage to leave early but failed to get to the museum. It takes surprisingly long to get from Richmond into town (not helped by signal problems and delayed driver). The queue out of South Kensington Station packed with kids and their parents convinced us to go for Plan B: ride the escalator at Angel which according to Max is the longest. We hopped back onto the tube to get to Piccadilly Circus and walked to Islington. The tube was packed, the streets were relatively empty. We came past the Postal Museum which we visited yesterday and enjoyed China Town. The escalator ride was long, the tube ride to King's Cross short. Brief visit to St Pancras to see the Eurostars. Wondered at the masses of people waiting to get into the Harry Potter shop. Got lunch for the train and had a peaceful journey home.

Edinburgh might be provincial but has a nice amount of people (even when it gets packed during the Festival) and plenty to do. London is nice to visit but it's always good to leave again.

More pictures of today and yesterday on flickr.
