Electric Fence?

I noticed that there was a power tap from the overhead cables bringing power down the pole. I wondered if closing the gate might complete the circuit and electrify the whole fence around the field?


To explain yesterday's blip: The perspective is foreshortened by the use of a telephoto lens and there is a hidden flight of steps (with two handrails) that the shopper is about to descend (rather than stepping into space).
The main passageway connects a shopping centre (The Mercat) on the right to multi-storey carparks on the left.
