a very bad day

My beautiful Nelly was savaged this morning when we were walking her and Ziggy by an enormous German Shepherd dog. We always put our dogs on their leads if we see anyone approaching (which isn't very often). A man had his 2 dogs free and he made no attempt to put them on their leads. As we got nearer his dog made a massive lunge at Nelly knocking her on the ground and then proceeding to bite her head. At one point I thought it had got her whole head in its mouth. We took her to the vet and she's had to have surgery at a cost of just over £400.

Right now I'm just grateful to have her on the settee next to me safe and sound.
Tomorrow the dog's owner will be visited...
