Glimmer of hope

Phew. We’re making good progress at work on a tricky project. I’m so grateful to each and every member of the team. A few times today, I thought I’d lost the plot but managed to recover with the help of a colleague.

I had chips and beans with Ray at lunch, but not in our usual caff, which was full. We had to pay tourist prices.

I left early to rush to Blackfriars station (the blip) and meet Fred on the train to Gatwick. At Inverness, a quick flight away, there were no buses to the centre so had to fork out over £20 on a taxi. You’d think there’d be a bus to meet the flight...

Once safely at the Highland home, we literally had to make the bed: the carpet fitters had dismantled it. It was a bit of a puzzle, but we worked it out. The two carpeted, decorated bedrooms look great. Nice to have fresh surroundings but sad at the same time, too a little bit more of the old character of Fred’s childhood home has been consigned to history.
