The Labrador Scale

Rant first.

We have had contractors working at the side of the A86 carriageway near our road end. They were installing new pvc ducts for telecom cables and have taken informal occupation of some unused grass land at the junction to park trucks and diggers. (To be clear I have no problem with this.)

They appear to be finished and have left a big heap of litter behind them. Trash lobbed out of the van window without a second thought and now blowing about all over the place making a right mess. M saw them while the work was going on. They weren't a bunch of young neds on the site, no, guys who were maybe 40 to 50 age group who you would think would know better. It troubles me that they are probably parents themselves likely bringing up children with the same inconsiderate mentality.

We have a lot of energetic hard working people in Scotland, folk who constantly juggle the responsibilities of work and family and doing their very best on both fronts. Honest, working hard, paying their way and bringing up children to be responsible considerate well rounded human beings. I think the social awareness issue is well illustrated in schools but it has got to be reinforced in the home.

I know they have just left a heap of litter at their behinds and they aren't dealing drugs but there is an unpalatable mind set in some moronic people out there who assume that no matter what they do, there is always going to be some one to come and magically clear up their mess behind them, with a similarly magical pot of money to pay for it.

The litter is a filthy eyesore but the mentality of the perpetrators is more worrying. The country is in a mess in every way.

End of rant!

J and C (Bob's people) returned home from holiday and they had a very long drive through the night. M and I took him with Bruce and Caley for a decent circuit at Leanachan so that he was tired out nicely for going home to his own family this morning.
We dropped Bruce and Caley off at our house, loaded Bob's luggage, and took him home. Despite them all having a healthy tan, Bob thankfully recognised and was pleased to see his own folk and of course this was reciprocated. J had really missed her special yellow boy. It was lovely to see them reunited.

Back home for a coffee and some lunch, our dogs had snuggled down for a wee sleep in their beds, and the house felt suddenly tranquil.I think there is a logarithmic relationship between the number of dogs you keep and the level of mayhem and daftness around you. Its called the Labrador scale.

One Dog, daftness level ten
Two Dogs, daftness level one hundred
Three Dogs, daftness level one thousand

I jest, it was great looking after Bob for a wee while. He is very good natured and one of the happiest dogs I have ever seen.
The blip then; a high speed Bob and Caley at Leanachan.
