MY SWEET SIXTEENTH

yeah so today i turned 16

wow.

it feels off tbh, i now have so many more liberties, some better than others, ahahaha..

so i waited up unitl 12am on skype with luke, alwasy wanted to open my presents and cards this early in the morning, it was good fun, good banter :)

so we woke up quite early to catch our train to glasgow central, then the virgin train to london euston

after that we transferred to the tube to get to heathrow, (prior to a quick stop and a bite to eat in heathrow (hamish and i enjoyed trying on sunglasses in boots)) where we boarded the plane headed for Addis Ababa , Ethiopia

we arrived about 7.5 hours later, where we waited for our flight to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

we then met our driver for the week - William, a quiet yet pleasent Tanzanian man with a big landrover-like car

he took us to our "sleep inn hotel" where are staying just one night

we took a walk around the city and witnessed a man stealing from the local market, attempting to run onto a crowded bus to escape, who was then dragged into the road and beat to death by an angry mob all thouting "thief! thief!" in swahili, all beating him all over, in particular his head, with sticks, clubs, poles, and metal utensils

this, i found out, was the penalty for stealing, and as we walked quietly away, i was told that he would be lucky to get out alive at all!

scary shizz tbh..

tanzania is hot, humid, and the city is smelly and dirty, but i've already fallen back in love with the continent in which i spent my childhood

it may not be cameroon, but it feels like home to me
