Red-breasted Merganser

I found a few ducks on the river in TC.  It's been years since I last saw any in that area.  But with the bay frozen over, I guess they've been looking for open water.  Well, at least that's the logic I used when I was trying to decide where to find some feathered swimmers.  

Before today, I've tried and failed to get a decent image of these birds... they aways see me coming and scatter faster than any other duck around here.  But today they were on the river and that offered me more options to get closer than open water does. I even had the chance to move around and get better angles and light. That was fun and kind of rewarding after all of my previous attempts. :)
