Emma D's diary

At home: shooting across the sky x

To propel you child cross the sky. First take an old car tyre. Tie the car tyre securely to an old horse lunging rope. Climb up an old oak tree. Shimmy yourself along a large arm-like bow. With a foolish inconsideration for health and safety and especially no regard for your life at this stage, attempt to tie the rope to the tree. Ask the tree for forgiveness, since she may dump you on the ground at any moment. I believe it is purely up to the tree's spirit at this stage as to whether she welcomes you and your children to use her in this fashion.

I say this, because my children swing so high through the branches. Yes, obviously being propelled. But it is by some magic, that they, the children haven't either hit the trunk of the oak face on, that she allows her bowing arm to drop, or spouts out a rogue branch to get in the way. What she allows them is a moment of freedom and fun. The children are added to her memories.

She, the old oak will still be standing here when their laughter has gone. x
