tempus fugit

Elvish vessels

Scarlet elf cups grow and glow in soggy places in late winter like tiny fungal bowls left strewn around after a small-scale picnic. But these two also remind me of miniature Welsh coracles that could come in handy in the event of flooding (although one is holed!)

I also like the tiny plantlet that has germinated between them, its embryonic  cotyledons (the first pair of leaves) splayed out like paddles to catch the light.
