St Michael's Church tower

Some old friends called yesterday as they fancied a walk today so after a wet start the sun came out and we headed for a circular walk taking in the coast path and Otterton village.   There was little wind and with at the sun out we were soon very warm but not complaining as we climbed up and down the hills with lovely views across Lyme Bay.  We spotted several skylarks it was a great day to be out.   After lunch we reached Otterton where the colour of the sky against the church tower attracted my attention.

Otterton has an interesting history there having been a settlement and church present since Saxon times.  It was at one time a thriving port.  In the 1870's the old church was demolished and a new church built in its place.

We didn't feel the small earthquake today but our son told us he had felt it at our home when we returned.
