Black nosed Gus

It's been over a month since the last Gus blip, that's too long for at least one of his admirers. And this is only the second of the year. Here he is on our second walk up the Knott today, as the light was falling in the afternoon (though the days are getting distinctly longer). It was a quietish day after two long days out birding in Lancashire on Friday and on Walney yesterday (a back blip of that to come).

As for Gus, I was looking back at blips of him a year ago. At that time he had a dry nose that was prone to what looked to be painful cracking. We were trying to find the right food for him, something he wouldn't get bored of and that was nutritious. We hit on the right combination, and it seems that he had some mild food allergy (possibly to wheat). Since then his nose is black and shiny, and although he is older and slower now, he is very well in himself.

Bird lists - I checked my list for 2018 this morning, and found that I had missed one off. My list is now 116.
