Winter Words Festival

We had a lovely day at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre attending three of the Winter Words events and sneaked this quick photo while waiting for one of the authors to appear on stage:-)

We started early with nature writer Jim Crumley speaking (through a bad cold!) about his latest book "The Nature of Winter".  He's already done one about Autumn and will be following them with Spring and Summer.  A real insight into why he loves his life's work and is so good at sharing it through words.

This was followed by a fascinating session with Angus Roxburgh called "Moscow Calling"  after his latest book.  For someone like me who has always been interested in Russia after learning the language at school, it was an amazing insight into the changes that have occurred there in the last 45 years.

After lunch, there was a final session called "Who Built Scotland?" with James Robertson and Jamie Crawford, two of the authors who contributed essays in this compilation volume about how the built environment has influenced and been influenced by the people of the time.

All wonderful subjects and interesting speakers and a really enjoyable day.  Must go again next year!
