Rust and teasel

Today's cycling adventure took us from Rochester to the Isle of Grain, where the sun shone on the plains - a wide expanse of marsh and farmland that home of thousands of birds. It was beautiful and tranquil. Imagine our horror when we came across a local lady who was raising awareness for the campaign against building a new London airport on the site. London doesn't need another airport, surely (though business leaders may disagree). Why not send more planes north to Manchester and Birmingham and generate business there. They're building that costly rail link to Birmingham - why not use it? Gah. I'm very much on the side of protecting our green spaces - once lost, they are not regained.

Plus, there are bird strike issues and, more worringly, the shipwreck of SS Richard Montgomery off the Isle of Sheppey that that could blow up with massive consequences.
