NZ- Day 10

Where has the sun gone? It’s a good job we didn’t have aspirations to go up in an helicopter today to see the glacier up close and personal because all rides have been cancelled. The day started showery and the outside furniture was removed lest the wind started to blow due to the cyclone. We thought we would visit the Wildlife centre to see rare baby rowi kiwis but they are kept in the dark and you can’t see a thing, well, we couldn’t. Anyway our entrance fee has donated to their project. We did, however, see these tuatara kept in captivity and photographed through glass. They kept immensely still but they had videos of them being active.
It has now turned into a thoroughly miserable afternoon but we have big windows through which to watch the changing gloom. We also have supplies and cooking facilities including bottled gas because the electricity keeps on tripping out. Surprisingly, WiFi is very good so I am slowly catching up on your journals. We just have to hope that the road for our journey tomorrow is not closed!
