In Search of Archeology

Off for an adventure with freespiral and bat, in the Townland of Cullomane. We found an abundance of ancient sites but not before we rolled under barbed wire fences, climbed over electric ones, waded through muddy tracks, scrambled over banks and slid into ditches! I have come to expect nothing less when on an adventure with freespiral and I was fortunate to be the only one wearing wellies!
So this is the largest of the two ring forts we saw, both encircled in oak trees. There was a stone circle, with just five chunky stones, a quartz boulder burial, several standing stones and a denuded Cairn. We had lots of interesting chat about what we were looking at, including a few imaginative possibilities from ourselves! Tea with Bats neighbours, most welcome, nearly came home with an adorable puppy but just managed to resist, might cramp my adventurous spirit!
