Hols to end

Morning flight and set off a bit early as there had been a little bit of snow.

However, the journey turned in to a nightmare. We had only gone a few kilometres when a snow storm came, the likes of which I have never before or since experienced, Thunder and lightning in a pure white out. Tried to keep driving orienteringthe road on the posts at the side of the road. Vision was perhaps a maximum of 10 metres.

Was so bad that I drove off the main dual carriageway simply because a slip road came and I was following the posts. Finally the snow calmed down but road was packed with snow and thus a very slow journey.

The time to check in came and went as did the departure time. We still headed to the airport in the hope of getting the next flight.

Luck was with us. The storm had also shut down the airport and the plane was still there. Hurriedly dashed to check in and all went well.

Avoided a long tearful farewell I guess.

I drove to the observation hill on the airport and waited until their plane took off.

It had been a wonderful week but made the parting even worse.
