A little more local history...

... with one of my Harrogate Now&Then blips.

James Street is still one of the town's busiest shopping streets. When the original photo was taken in 1905, Standings Grocers and Tea Rooms was a very popular emporium.

It was more tricky than usual to get a 'today' photo to match the original, simply because of the parked cars and passing traffic. It is interesting see the upper storeys of the shops remain very similar on the outside whilst the occupants of the stores have changed considerably over the last 113 years.
