Another Brick In The Wall (Part 1)

These bricks were used to block up an Edinburgh Press (that I initially thought was a window) which we think was to provide a support for a toilet etc. While we have now knocked through the press, I am glad to see the bricks reused to form the doorway.

They are from Roslin NCB where bricks were made from 1901-1969, although NCB was formed in 1947. They were probably laid here when the outside toilet moved indoors.

I learned a lot tonight.... there were loads of brick makers back in the day... there is a whole website to document all the Scottish bricks... worth a 5 minute scan:-) They have already recorded over 3000 Scottish brickmarks!

So the windows are done, the doorway brickwork done, next week the easy stuff. And good news... there are at least 2 other brick songs I can use!
