Making up for lost time

Butterflies busy today with the sun out. They have had a few wet days to contend with lately and need to make up for lost time.

Trev and I did a stint on a table at Countdown today for the Heart Foundation. Rana the on duty manager was most helpful with getting us set up, entertaining us when the customers dried up and even happily posing for a photo. The Foundation like a record of what is happening in each region.

I didn't feel as if I was in the same town today. So much happening that it is hard to keep up and nothing that I would attend- the drag races at the aerodrome we could hear roaring in the near distance; there is boxing on a specially built concrete ring with marquee and corporate tables etc. at the refurbished Hotel Motueka. Rana is involved with cadets and they fundraise by serving tables. Not my thing either nor hers. Lots of strangers who could have been tourists or workers or just new to town. Once we knew everyone.

We did get to chat with a few people affected by the storm and most just getting on with it as best they can. Civil Defence and EQC both being helpful apparently which is good to hear. Roads being cleared and water restored and the road over the Takaka Hill MAY, just MAY, be able to take essential services only tomorrow but only in daylight hours.
