Sun Filled Mane

Sun kisses
Tail and mane
As canter they
Down leafy lane
Autumn's light
Broken by hoofbeat
Re-forms rainbow
To scene complete
Bird's song broken
By gallop's rush
Await in silence
of woodland's hush
Trackside denizens
Await with awe
Passing blur
Of foam-flecked maw
Slow release
Of in-forced air
As distance takes
Vision fair
Sound returns
In sunlight's beam
Was that reality?
Or mare of dream?
